I hope you enjoy reading my NaNoWriMo Diary as much as I am enjoying working on my rough draft this year.

NaNoWriMo Diary 2017: Week Three
Nov 15 – 36,358, Today’s total words: 1,082
-Notes: Scrambled to get things ready for out of town guests that are showing up sometime on the 18th. That entailed doing some grocery shopping because I can’t expect everyone in the world to be Paleo like me. I ended up only getting to write during my work breaks, and 5 minutes before I went to bed. This is part of the reason why I made sure I got plenty of writing time the last week so I wouldn’t have to play catch up after my guests leave on the 26th.
– Mood: Tired
– Inspiration Music for today: My granddaughter was at the house for awhile today, so we listened to a multitude of three-year-old friendly stuff, plus Minions movie on repeat until she realized I had the movie, Coraline. “Nona, can I has Kobawine,” totally made my day! I have a copy of Neil Gaiman‘s book put away for when she is a little older and doesn’t think books are toys to toss around for my dogs to chase after. I have created quite the collection of books for her when she can appreciate them, a lot of them are same books that I grew up with and still have. Do you realize how hard it is to find older editions of Enid Blyton’s Famous Five series? I really don’t like the newer covers.
Nov 16 – 41,481, Today’s total words: 5,123
– Notes: I worked so hard the last week, I had pretty much 0 real-life work to do today except for an early morning meeting. Today was my second highest word count day! GO, TEAM!
– Mood: Energetic and Inspired.
– Inspiration music for today: Etta James, I have every album she has ever recorded, so repeat lasted awhile.
Nov 17 – 46,467, Today’s total words: 4,986
– Notes: Great day today, I managed to finish all my real life job work pretty early, except for a late evening meeting.
– Mood: Feeling Accomplished.
– Inspiration music for today: A multitude of jazz, cuz, “AND IM FEELING GOOD!!!”
Nov 18 – 50,580, Today’s total words: 4,113
– Notes: I hit 50K! I have a lot more left of this rough draft to do and going to continue to write it and count my words until the finish line. I have five chapters half done, and six chapters still in outline form. My new goal is hitting 200,000 lifetime NaNoWriMo words. I need a little less than 30K words to accomplish that goal in the next 13 days. Wish me luck; I may need it!
– Mood: Feeling Accomplished
– Inspiration music for today: KSON 103.7 from San Diego over the Internet.
Nov 19 – 51,533, Today’s total words: 953
– Notes: I am still plugging along. My novel as I mentioned above is nowhere close to being done, and I plan on continuing to get as much of this rough draft done before NaNoWriMo ends for the year. My writing time was short but productive. The family that I was expecting arrived last night, my writing time was crunched in early in the morning before they woke up.
– Mood: Feeling Accomplished
– Inspiration music for today: KSON 103.7 from San Diego over the Internet.
Nov 20 – 51,677, Today’s total words: 144
– Notes: Guests prevented me from doing any real writing today. This happens every year, so am grateful I was able to pound the keys to pull ahead unlike 2015 where I struggled the last few days to make my 50K because Thanksgiving week was too busy to write. Live and Learn! Validated my win when I validated my word count. Going to keep writing when I get the chance over the holiday week.
– Mood: Frustrated
– Inspiration music for today: None
Nov 21 – 52,462, Today’s Total Words: 785
– Notes: I stayed up too late just to complete 785 words today and add them to my word count. I am reaching for that 30-day word tracking badge as well as increasing my lifetime world goal. I don’t know if I will reach my new goal of 200,000 words this NaNo unless I can knock out as many words as I did the first week. I am going to give it a shot, but I won’t feel guilty if I don’t accomplish this goal. Being sick, and having to prepare for the family, I feel pretty accomplished that I managed to win before they arrived.
– Mood: Frustrated
